So, we went to see Coraline this afternoon, in Real3D. The stop-motion animation was glorious, and the 3D was beautiful and immersive rather than gimmicky. (and I didn't get a headache, as I know some people have.) It was a feast for the eyeballs, and no mistake.

Alas, I can only say I liked it, rather than loved it as I love the book, freshly re-read for the occasion. (And therein lies the problem?) Spoilers beyond this point ) I do think that that the team at Laika should be very proud, and I'm pleased that the movie is doing better than expected. It is utterly beautiful, and I'm glad we saw it in the theater, in 3D. (It's only the second movie we've seen in the theater in the last 3 years; parenthood will do that.)
